Food Made Fast – Giveaway

My biggest fear when I became a vegetarian brought a question much like the little old lady in the Wendy’s commercial; “Where’s the beef?”

You tell ‘em!

I grew up in a meat and potatoes household…what was I going to do if vegetables were the main course instead of the side dish.  Then I spent a few days wandering around book stores and specialty shops looking at cookbooks.  Recipes for eggplant parmesan, frittatas and stir fry were familiar to me, but words like udon noodles, pappardelle, and faro were out of my vocabulary, until now.

One of my favorite cookbooks I’ve found is from the Food Made Fast series by William-Sonoma simply titled, ‘Vegetarian’.

You know the store we can all wander through for hours and then go home and browse the catalog or website for a few more.  The dishes all sound delicious and the pictures look so good you might eat the book before dinner is done.

There is even a section in the back that tells you how to stock your pantry for quick and easy, yet fabulous vegetarian meals.

Even omnivores will enjoy the hearty dishes in this book.  Darn near the perfect cook book.

Unfortunately for me, but fortunately for you, I’ve discovered I’m allergic to many of the ingredients that make this difficult to use.  I’ve left it on the shelf for months hoping my allergies would realize the food tastes too good to be allergic to…no such luck.

But good news for one lucky reader of It All Changes who will receive the Williams-Sonoma Food Made Fast Vegetarian Cookbook and a silicone spatula to help you whip up all the new fabulous meals.

Aw nuts — sorry you’re having to retire such a useful cookbook :-/

We really like veggie soups — last night was a vegetarian miso. Delish… and easy. Boil water, stir in miso paste, add tofu, greens, or noodles as desired, and you’re done!

  8. 04/01/2011 11:05 AM

Cool! I didn’t realize this was a giveaway and was going to comment saying I need to find that book! If I don’t win I am totally buying it! My favorite vegetarian recipe would be the one I had last night- eggplant, fresh mozz and tomatoes over whole wheat pasta with basil. Soooo good!

    • 04/01/2011 11:06 AM

Those are good…Especially if you broil the eggplant with olive oil and balsamic, then let the mozz melt 🙂

      Good luck!

I love fast and easy meals. One of my go-to dishes is a simple stir-fry with whatever veggies happen to be in the fridge — peppers, zucchini, frozen corn, mushrooms, etc — tossed with soy sauce and Sriracha.

One of My Favorite Vegetable dishes is a Spaghetti Squash Pasta-like dish that I make. I cook the Spaghetti Squash with olive oil and fresh garlic like I would a fried garlic linguine. With that I have grilled balsamic portobella mushrooms and thats the “meat” of my dish. 🙂
