Peanut and Leo’s Tips & Tricks

If you don’t know by now Peanut and Leo are my dogs….the loves of my life…the little bundles of joy who warm my feet in bed every night.  When people ask Hunni and I if we have kids we say “we have dogs.”  We want to have kids eventually but for now we’re happy with the puppers.  They are adorable so who can resist them.

But I’ll let you in on a little secret…Peanut and Leo have their own little tips and tricks.  They are looking to make a book deal or a TV show so they can get an apartment of their own or kick us out of this place since they clearly think it is theirs already.  So here are their tips.

  1. Have an emergency stash of snacks that are healthy when hunger strikes…every night.

Peanut leaves little bits of her food all over our apartment for midnight snacks.  Hunni picks up her food but she delights in showing him that she has stuff hidden in a secret stash in case she gets the midnight munchies.  Every night she crunches proudly right in front of his face as he lies on the floor.  At least she hides her healthy dog food and not her little meaty treats or some bird she found outside.

  2. Make use of every excuse to in exercise everyday.  Its just too much fun not to do so.

Leo wrestles with Hunni at least once a day.  He tries to win with a valiant effort but always ends up running circles around Hunni and beating up a pillow instead. And they both make sure to walk us as often as possible.  We obviously need the exercise in their eyes.  Even in the snow.  They are like the mailman.

  3. Get plenty of water and salt so you don’t get dizzy like momma.  Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate.

Peanut makes sure to get her salt off our faces when we sweat.  She is salt deficient like her momma.  (Or you could go swimming in the water dish which Peanut has done on a hot day).

  4. Get plenty of rest to help your body stay fresh.  You need to relax after all the hard work you are putting in.

These are just some of the million pictures of them sleeping or semi sleeping.  The think this is one of the most important tips especially at their age.  They need to rejuvenate for those walks and wrestling matches.

  5. Have plenty of family support who will be there no matter what.

They don’t look so happy in this picture but they really love us…we think.  Or the let us believe it to get more meaty treats and snausages 🙂

  6. And finally if all else fails just get a great hair cut to make yourself feel great.

    Summer short hair.

They act like they hate the groomer while I take them over.  They leave as much hair on my clothes as possible to show me they don’t need a hair cut.  But when I pick them up they preen and show off how cute they look and our awesome groomer Mary-Beth says how much fun they have.  And now they both look so much skinnier.  Peanut is mostly fluff and Leo’s curly fur makes him look bigger.  So for now they have their puppy status back.

**Please note Peanut and Leo are not healthy living professionals in any way.  They would eat their weight in puppy treats if we would let them.  They just play one on the blog 🙂 **
